Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Signs off

India was blessed to have a president like Abdul Kalam.

abdul kalam

He urged to Indians to transform the country into a developed nation by 2020. He wants India to be one of the best places to live and work in.

Speaking to a state television as usual he delivered a simple message “Accelerate development, the aspirations of youth… and mobilize rural competence for competitiveness. Defeat problems and succeed”

5 Years ago when he was picked as our president the architect of India’s missile programme and a national hero after successful test of nuclear weapons was a surprise choice.

During his stay as a president, he opened the majestic 340 room presidential palace for the common people. He was the first president to fly in supersonic jet and visit the highest battle field of the world Siachen.

But above all many Indians recognized him as a common man like us specially the youth of the country.

He left a stamp at the presidents’ chair in own unique way. He has set standards for future presidents that I think will be very difficult to achieve.

We Indians were honored to have a president like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. And I personally take it as disgrace that we could not have more of him as our president.

We salute you Sir.

Why We Fail the same way?

This is one of the most common questions that most of us have. I tried to dive little deeper into it. And here’s is what I figured out.

Lack of Persistence:
Most people fail not because they do not have knowledge or talent but because they quit. The secret of success lies in two words, Persistence and Resistance. Successful people are able to persist to what is right and resist to what is wrong.

When problems seem to be never ending, Quitting seems to be the easiest way out. Winners are stuck not destroyed. We all fail, but failing does not mean that we are failures.

Lack of Conviction:
People who lack conviction take the middle road and what happens in middle of the road. You get run over.

They are not able to take any stand. They lack confidence.

Rationalizing:
Winners generally analyze and not rationalize. Losers have a book full of excuses and some of the most common excuses are:

  • I am unlucky
  • I don’t have contacts
  • I don’t have enough money
  • I did not get the opportunity

The list goes on an on.

Not learning from past mistakes:
Some people live and learn and some only live. Those who are wise learn from there past.

Failure is a teacher if we have a right attitude. Experience is the most common name we give to our mistakes.

Lack of Discipline:
Ask any person who has achieved something worthwhile has not done so without discipline. Discipline takes a lot of self control and sacrifices. Steam does not move the engine unless it was confined.

Poor Self-Esteem:
Poor self esteem is a lack of self respect and self worthiness. People with poor self esteem are constantly looking for identity. One’s Self is not to be found but to be created.

Poor Attitude: A fatalistic attitude prevents people from accepting responsibility for their position in life. They attribute success and failure to luck. They resign themselves to their fate.

These people never put any effort. They wait for things to happen rather than make then happen.

These are the few points that according to me are roots of failure. Would love to have your say on this.

Water Water EveryWhere!!

Its been raining Cats and Dogs here in Kolkata. According Met Department Kolkata has witnessed more than 116mm of rain overnight. It seems that traffic of Kolkata has come to a stand still due to water logging in almost all the major areas.

Although I have managed to reach my office, Thanks to my fathers car. We are only about 8 people present in the office.

Do watch the video below. May be we can learn something out of it even in this almost wasted rainy day.
