Is Your Content Attracting Links?

You want more traffic from search engine? Then you got to have more links. Search Engine algorithms are heavily weighted towards links.

Now for blogs all that Bloggers have is content, so one question that they may ask is how to write content that attract links.

Here are some points that will help you make your content a link magnet.

You should not decide what is link worthy
This is probably one of the most important principals for links building. After all you are not one who will link to your own article. It will be other webmasters who will be doing so. So it’s important that you write an article that will attract other webmasters and Bloggers.

Covering News and Latest Happenings
Its good to update your blog regularly with News and Latest happenings, but at the same time you should cover it with your view point that has something unique about it.

Take Risks
If you have a niche blog then try covering those things that don’t get enough coverage. Often by being unique you may attract lot of links.

If you have anything else do let us know through comments.

I don’t think Content is the King

Many established Bloggers wont agree to this but I really don’t think that Content is the king specially when it comes to blogging.

Content is just a part of a huge puzzle called successful blogging. Think about it, world’s best advice about blogging is of no use if nobody is there to read your content.

According to me the most important factor of successful blogging is the BLOGGER.

After all it’s the effort of the Blogger from writing good content to meeting up people to build up a community around his blog with his readers to managing your blog.

It’s a huge task and believes me a managing a blog is not that easy as it looks to many people. It requires a hell lot of work and time to become a successful Blogger.

Unusual Ways of Promoting your Blog

If you are planning to increase popularity of your blog then probably you have already looked into techniques of SEO and that certainly is not a bad idea but you are one of those who have already applied some SEO and want to something different then here are some of the unusual ways of promoting your blog.

  1. Generally we all get very lazy when it comes to commenting to another blogs and some of the excuses we give are, we don’t have time, and most of the Bloggers are my competitors. But let me tell you if you regularly comment on other blogs and give valuable information, then many readers of that blog will start reading your blog.
  2. Add links to quality blogs from your Blogroll. Most of us hate to use blogroll but frankly this is a easiest way you can develop some links for your blog. This will not only help you from search engine point of view but will also fetch you some visitors.
  3. Use social networking sites like Orkut, MySpace, Bebo. These site generally get millions of visitors everyday, so why not try and get some visitors to our blogs.
  4. Try to be a regular member of communities like MyBlogLog. Through this many of our fellow Bloggers will come to know about us and our blog. Use there widgets this will also help increasing participation on your blog.

Creating Passionate Users for your Site

Nowadays WEB 2.0 is one of the most happening and discussed word on the web. But many people still ask “” It’s good that helping users learn is the key to creating passionate users….but you need to do a hell lot of extra work and who has time for that, who will make all that extra tutorial or do documentations?

The answer to this question is YOUR USERS. Just think about all those things that good user community can do for you: Marketing (Word of Mouth), new product ideas, training new users. Overall these all will help you saving a lot of money and you can budget for your site in a much better way.

Saying that building up a community is not all that easy especially for a new website. Here are some tips that will help you to build a strong user community:

  • Have some kind of discussion board like forums, wiki’s, blogs and do whatever it takes to get people there as soon as possible.
  • Look for other similar boards and recognize the big names there. Try to contact them.
  • Try to make these members life time members and give them special designations as FOUNDERS. This will give them a satisfaction of being there at a place where nobody else will reach.
  • Try to have rewards for participation (Not Money), these rewards could be status or some kind of special recognition. While giving rewards don’t only see the quantity of the posts also look at the quality.
  • Try and include some fun activities, May be have one off topic forum.
  • Encourage senior members to have there own private discussion place.

The above points are just few tips. There will be plenty more coming pretty soon. And also please don’t forget to add if you have any new idea.

How fast does your site loads?

This is one question that according to me all the webmasters should have a decent idea about.

Ideally studies show that a site should load with in 6 seconds. (+2)

And believe me this has a lot of affect on your user experience. Just imagine about the impact a user will have if your site takes 10-15 seconds to load and your competitor’s site loads in 5-6 seconds.

Here are some of the ways that can help you in optimizing your site speed.

  • Make sure you don’t have any unnecessary line breaks and spaces in your page. This will help you in decreasing the size of the page which obviously decreases the site loading time.
  • Hosting images, CSS and JS files in a different domain. This is a debatable issue but I think this can help considerably. Will be posting a detailed post on this very soon, so watch out.

Some of the common tools that will help you knowing the size and loading time of a page are:
