cricket is having the strength to excel in its game. and the will is so strong that every investor in coming forward to spend lots of money and till date they have reached their exceptions and so, develop that zeal to strengthen other sports and games rather than blaming cricket.

no,i dont agree to the view that cricket is proving detrimental to other sports in india.we cant blame cricket to the not so good performance of other sports and for not reaching upto the expectations of people.infact BCCI deserves a pat on their back for making cricket so popular and the wonderful job it has done in popularizing the game.

Well,
Cricket is not the only popular sport in India. We watch English Premiere League, Champions' League and Football WC too with equal enthusiasm. This means, there is a possibility to promote sports other than cricket. But, professionalism is necessary. If you look at the development of cricket, the club-level leagues in Bombay were the ones who developed talent at local level, then they took it to the national level. Even today, the Kanga league is played with zest and fervour. Is the same professionalism seen in other sports like football? No. So, for a sport to succeed, professionalism and loyalty should be developed from local level itself.

Good post! You have put your views very well.

Its important for other sports bodies to get rid of people who have been controlling them for many years. Many federations have not seen new administrators for last 25 years.

We have not seen other sports bodies trying promote their sports in semi urban and rural areas. They have to first accept that there are talents who need to be provided with proper platforms to excel.

Good post!!:-)

I firmly believe that other sports can excel along with cricket in India...but cricket simply has reached great heights and it would take a lot of effort for other sports to reach cricket's GLORY in INDIA!!
