    Great to see the cricketers are getting lots of money. But last day in T.V I saw that a football player of Bengal is not able to join the team as he has not enough money. He can not afford to go abroad. This is very sad. One player is getting huge money and in another sports players are not getting enough money. Best of luck for the Kolkata Team I mean Sourav’s Team. Hope Dada’s team will win all the matches.

    Yes I too feel this is a hype. Ok the players will get more cash but do we expect them to put in the same level of effort at the national level? I’m saying this because the forthcoming interstate matches would certainly give them a lot of money. It may not affect all, but at least some of the nation’s players.

    Whether it’s a good move or a bad one - we’ll have to wait and watch. Till then, let’s hope for the best!

    Overall the bid seemed strange in some cases but i’m very much interested watching these wonderful players playing here. I’m waiting for that. Yesterday I heard someone criticizing this hiring process but i’m little interested in it.

    Yes, a Revolution in Cricket. let’s watch how it goes. Its good impact is, we will have more fun and enjoyment, bad impact is, cricketers would not be able to give their best to the national team….because of hectic schedule. Short span of cricket-life for the cricketer.

    Thanks Anirudh for the organized post; best of luck for the teams and your blog :)

    Its not how well you can play, its about how well you can be sold. Its a respected and socially accepted prostitute market, where money is invested to sell the bought prostitute. Entertainers are sellable, sellable are bought, bought for high values. Ricky is not sellable in India and so is Macgrath.

    Why UB group invest in cricket/sports as they have a lot of lifestyle products. But great work done.

    @Aji

    Well said…. but i personnaly dont see a harm in this..its just that IPL is taking the game to new heights.. some of the most popular sports have it..for example English Premier League where players are not treated anything more than product. Look at david beckham..he is being sold by his club in every two years or so..

    And like Brett Lee said…this is gonna revolutionize
    the game atleat commercially if not anything else.

    @Susmita, Devray

    I dont think this will effect players when playing for there country… this event will only be played for 44 days in a year and rest they will be playing for there country.. there form and performance in international mathches will decide there worth in IPL.

    Thanks for the comment guys :)

    my serious concern is that how we can use this total money earned for the betterment of cricket! It will be a great stuff if BCCI helps some other sports in our country with this money.

    >> Well said…. but i personnaly dont see a harm in this.
    There is no harm in it as long as cricket is played on the field. I only have one small worry, will more cricket make India poorer …

    * Wastage of useful time might increase
    * Fight between saas bahu serials and cricket will have more number of days .. family troubles .. golden era for family counselors.
    * More saris for Mandira

    :) .. Enjoy the game

    But this can have a vice versa effect also..may be india may see some more investors from other countries.. :)

    India might become too much religious now. Cricket in India is no lesser than religion … Lets see how it goes.
