Not Finding What You are Looking For?
This is one of the main problem users face in World Wide Web. One of the easiest way a webmaster can solve this problem is by having a good Site Map.
Now one may ask how to design a good sitemap.
Basically you can design a good SiteMap in two ways:
- Alphabetical Sitemap
- Categorized Sitemap
Alphabetical Sitemap

Categorized Sitemap

However studies have shown that users are more used to Categorized Sitemaps simply because all the information are placed in specific categories which makes it easy for users to find the desired page.
Which type of Sitemaps do you prefer??

I prefer categorized sitemap. Its easy to understand and display the site architecture clearly.
I have created a smart one for my blog http://www.idealwebtools.com/blog/archives/ .. now we have 2 mutually exclusive sitemaps one for visitors and one for bots .. earlier we used to have only one.
Great man - I am thinking about making one for my blog!
I opt for categorized architecture. IMO alphabetical architecture is the best way to represent if you have a knowledgebase, Say like glossary or terminologies. As far as the SE bot is concerned, I’d prefer auto-updated sitemap index or xml files.
Thanks for sharing the info. I am also thinking about having one for my blog soon.
